EBRD Representative Pays Official Visit to the Deposit Protection Fund

The Deposit Protection Fund hosted Peter Bielik, Head of FI Montenegro at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on 25 August 2026.

During the meeting, Andrija Radunović, Director of the Deposit Protection Fund, presented the Fund’s key activities aimed at further enhancing its methodologies, procedures and operational capacities, with particular focus on activities arising from Montenegro’s preparations for accession to the European Union.

Particular emphasis was placed on the further development and alignment of the deposit protection system with the European regulatory framework, relevant international standards and best international practices, as well as on activities aimed at ensuring that the Fund is fully prepared for the future obligations arising from Montenegro’s EU membership.

The visit provided an important opportunity to exchange experiences and views on current and future challenges, as well as to explore opportunities for further strengthening cooperation between the Deposit Protection Fund and the EBRD.

“For the Fund, it is particularly important in this period to further enhance our methodologies and procedures and to develop, in a timely manner, the capacities required for the implementation of European standards in the field of deposit protection. The exchange of experience with international partners such as the EBRD represents an important contribution to this process and further confirms our commitment to the continuous improvement of the deposit protection system,” said Andrija Radunović.

The Deposit Protection Fund will continue, within the scope of its responsibilities, to implement activities aimed at strengthening its institutional and operational capacities and further enhancing the deposit protection system, in line with European standards and best international practices.
